If the energy from within the Breslin Center at the 2016 Eli Broad College of Business commencement ceremony wasn’t pulsating to begin with, the commanding guest speeches left Spartans and their families with an adrenaline rush. On May 7, entrepreneur Bob Skandalaris and graduating senior Ridwan Jimoh served as the keynote and student speakers before more than a thousand graduates as they ended their Broad chapters and began the next.

The Eli Broad College of Business: Where Women Thrive

The Eli Broad College of Business’s dedication to promoting women in business has resulted in recognition for the many initiatives the college has targeted to this effort. From college leadership participating in a White House initiative on expanding opportunities for women in business to recent research identifying Broad as the top business school growing female faculty over the past 16 years and the highest current percentage, the college has set a high bar for promoting the advancement of women in business.

Students Take Responsibility to Make an Impact

Seeing the spirit of Eli Broad College of Business students in action doesn’t mean a sea of green and white Spartan apparel. Rather, you see students and faculty rolling up their sleeves and finding ways to make a meaningful difference for the communities in which they live, learn, and work. The Broad College’s name and its faces were seen on and off Michigan State University’s campus—even around the country—generating positive changes that made a big difference. Opportunities throughout the year allowed Broad students to reconnect with passions outside of the classroom and business world, and to showcase what Spartan spirit is all about
Entrepreneurship and Innovation

The Broad College of Business supports efforts to develop entrepreneurship and innovation skills across the university—and these efforts have been widely successful over the past academic year, launching Spartans and their ventures into the exciting startup community. With the success of Spartans’ innovative ideas at national competitions, such as Student Startup Madness, the College piloted new programs to connect students directly with companies and their stakeholders.
